" By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

yada yada

My english lectures are very boring. In college, instead of letting us study some good literature and giving us a chance to explore its world we are made to "learn to communicate".

It really is very pathetic. But I guess, necessary. Since, about 80% of my class are from Tamil medium schools, and hence, need help to learn this particular skill. The books suck and are full of writing letters to unknown people following a completely wrong format (Anna Unviersity!! I was shocked), full of fill in the blanks and comprehension. What makes it worse is my lecturer. He can be entertaining and engaging when he wants to, but most of the time he's on his own trip to the outter galaxies. I say this because we definately aren't listening to him. May be aliens who are immune to carbon monoxide can stay awake.

So, when my class, with a sudden burst of jest, to escape from the continuous release of carbon monoxide (makes you sleepy/unconscious and then kills ya!!) suggested that we combine two or three classes together and have a debate, the lecturer greated them with a mocking look and said, "I don't think any of you are capable of using proper language and not indulging in personal insults. Because that's what you have to do when you debate. You really think you can do it?"

The other classes were having lots of fun with debates and extempore speaking during their lectures, so my class enthusiastically replied with a YES. While discussing topics...most favorite being the dress code, but ofcourse... Sir, suggested the importance of sex education.

Complete silence.

You could hear a pin drop.

Pretty sheltered life these people have lead. I'm not condemning them or trying to make fun of them here. But, what my prof had to say on the topic can be looked at from two angles.. i'm just telling it like it is. You chose! ;)

"It is a very natural urge ya. And you don't have to be married to indulge in it. There are lots of ways and means available to a person. But ofcourse protection is the key."

Silence.

"You'd go mad if you tried to suppress the urge to do it. There's stuff available on the internet. But, you have to know how to get into it (euuughh!!). You, have to be taught how to use it. You don't have to be ashamed of such urges. Hello?? our anscestors wrote scriptures on sex."

Another prof said this: "The movies don't show reality. When you are actually doing it. It's very different."

The hilarious part aside. Sex, is no longer a taboo subject amongst our generation. I don't know why the older generation are still trying to make it sound like "dirt". And something wrong. You treat an actress to slippers because she says something about pre-marital sex. They call it "defacing morals of the society." Someone correctly said: defacing, my ass.

We are progressing in sci-tech and are opening ourselves to the possible ways of living lives, every day. If someone wants to get rid of these urges by having sex with someone, then let him do it!! Marraige proposals should be rephrased to say, "Marry me sweetheart. I need to have sex."

Marraige is an institution. Not a practical sex education class.

If you think it's wrong. Then you don't do it. Why do you want to stop the other person?

One of the biggest hotbeds of AIDS in India is Madurai. The leader political group which made this allegation of "anti-tamilism" has a son who studies in a convent not to mention multiple wives.

Sex education. hmm. We had sex education in school. Well, lets see what they taught us.
    Ah yes I remember
"Sex is a union between a man and a woman, in a sexual nature"
    "It is best after marriage"
"Dont abuse or get into it"
    Thats all.
Damnit, thats what you get when they put a female teach' with a bunch of "baddies" like myself.
