" By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

Empty spaces.

I always used to wonder what people meant when they said that something/ someone had the power to make them smile with tears in their eyes. Feel happy, yet sad at the same time.

I do know now.

Bleddy memories. A song, a word, a book, an act, a character in a book, a dream, anything... 'Makes you find yourself thinking, recollecting and smiling to yourself about something that happened so long ago. So very very long ago. Seventy years ago. Smiling at the person you were then... Smiling at the feeling that you feel zing through you. Just like it did, back then.

And then you find a damn tear thats found it's way out, no matter how hard you tried to stick to the good part of the memory. For what had been. What could have been. And what never will be, ever again.

For just a fraction there, you feel something squeeze your insides. A slight pain that flits across.

And just like that. It's all gone. And all that your left with, is empty space.

i totally agree...and what you say makes sense when you've had sooooo many memories like that....

the only thing to do to fill the empty space is to fill it with more memories..ones hopefully of lesser pain and sorrow...

Agree with Aytida! I'm grateful for the spaces in my life.. looking back, I can see the mistakes I've made. And I'm also kinda glad those spaces didn't go on to become bigger things. Loving life the way it is now.. :)

Fill in all those spaces with happy memories!! :)

And btw, I deleted my old blog. New one is still under construction - www.justme-saranya.blogspot.com. Check it out sometime.

@ prateek : I think every memory has a tinge of sorry. If not because of what it is about, but because it's so long gone.

And there's something for the record - me talking sense!

@ay : Very true. I wasn't complaining either. Had too much time on my hands, and hence, the itch to write it down. Capture the moment ;)

@ saranya : I'm not too happy with the spaces these memories leave - I'd rather have the person and the memory, both. But hey! You can't have everything all the time.

And sweetie, you don't have to ask me to visit, been there, done that.

@co^th : 'Seems to be a day of firsts. Nicely written, eh?

    Muchos gracias.

Thanks for dropping by guys, wishing you the happiest of memories.

    Yours forever sthupitly.

Ohh,everyone has such memories :) Everyone needs these, just so one has something to hold on to when there is nothing else :)

And hey,the reason the memory lasts is because it is a memory....if it was still here, why hold on to it at all? Nothing's meant to last, but to give credit to ourselves,we almost make sure the parts worth keeping stay as long as we do :) thats what memories are for!!

@ a : lol. some one seems to be in full form. It's something I admit to myself, and hence i'll have to agree. I don't think there's anything called holding on - what's there is there for as long as it will be there, and once it's not there anymore, there's place for more!

    @ m : grazie`

    Thanks for dropping by guys,

    Yours forever sthupitly.

well it's better we have our memories than otherwise...ask a person with alzheimer and he'll tell you that.

but memories can be cruel as well...i cringe at some of mine and have to shake my head to get rid of it...fully aware that they'll return to me later...its like a boomerang...you might not want to throw it, but when you do, it invariably returns to you.

hope you are able to catch yours :)

oh and btw...one tag post up.
    take care

There are those. But like I said, they come and go. They'll come whether you like it or not, and go whether you like it or not. More oft than not, the ones you hate stick around for longer and on the fore front, while the ones you love hide.

Wishing you more happy ones! Thanks for dropping by,

    Yours forever sthupitly.

Memories make u the person you are now.. without the memories you might not be the stupith girl you are :|

Live with them.. Both the good and bad ones.. nothings better than a life filled with memories. Id have that compared to a life with no memories..
