Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

" By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

Ho jao shuru.

Ho jao shuru what, I wanted to ask Mani sir. Throwing tomatoes? Rotten eggs? After all the 'I lovvvre it' s and the 'I lovvvre it' s from the people around me, I figured it'd be a good movie. And it HAS been getting full houses, for all of the, what? Three weeks it's been running?

Somehow the movie just didn't touch me. I mean the theme was perfect - poor kid rises up and makes his dreams come true - I thought I was going in for a gut wrenching tale of how to face hardships. I never did have a choice, as you might point out.

When I sit to think of it now, I can't figure what the movie really was about. Was it about the worst spun cloth ever? There's a lot of threads that just dangle loosely - people who just disappear into thin air during the course of the movie. The brother, the police, the righteous minister and the hammer to call a court to silence.

Weaving aside, the wife just features in all the lovey dovey scenes. Neither does she know what's really going on, nor does she do anything when she does - So, it's not a women s lib film, that's for sure.

Coming to think of it - the whole movie, I think would have to be, just, aah whatstat word? Ok? In today s world, an OK just isn't good enough. And that isn't good enough with a team like this.

I'll have to admit, however grudgingly, that it does please a person with it's wry sense of humor - the way he waits for the last minute to throw the gauntlet, would satisfy any person who appreciates sarcasm. The music, me thinks it just about the only thing that lived up to it's name.

Most memorable scene - The speech in the last scene, in front of the enquiry commission, would have to go down in history, as, not one of the worst speeches every written, but as THE worst written speech ever. By the end of which, you gather that the man has confused compliance with servility and corruption with convenience.

The man isn't even remorseful about having taken to dishonest means - hoax companies, hoax imports, production that is twice of what he has license for - none of it. Apparently, the end justifies the means.

On the other hand, even though a rang de basanti it wasn't, it did highlight the fact that the only way this country is going to get anywhere in a hurry, is by becoming street savvy. There's a lot that needs to be done out there, and the only thing that's stopping us, is what constitutes the government of the country.

Personally, I agree. I think the emergency was the one time India showed maximum growth. All this unity we boast about, comes out only when there's a match coming up or an outsider lifts a finger against one of our own. Admirable that it is, it's high time scruples became the mainstay of our lives.

Else, all we'll have in our hands will be range de created rebels and guru created businessmen. Coming to think of it, it doesn't sound too bad. Rebels and street savvy business men, to the rescue of the middle and lower classes. Except maybe I'd rather every second person in my line of vision not be wearing his underwear over his pants.

    HeHe. So you're a critic now,eh? Agony Aunt,Critic...what will you be next,publisher? :D

Hmm...The thing is,the rebel and businessman thing would work well,if you removed the intrinsic human emotion of selfishness and greed out of the equation....I mean, how many of these folks are capable of selfless sacrifice anyway? The solution is not for these chaps to come to the party, but for everyone to turn into these chaps..like in the US of sorts :)

Oh Btw.Don't you think amonarchy is way,way better than a democracy for a nation like India? :)

    Oh My Gawwd...

Thank You! Almost everyone I spoke to lurrrved the movie. Yack.

As you said, it wasn't bad. It was just... ahem... alright I guess. And that just doesn't cut it for Mani sir. Ja?

Oh, and. I think the RDB rebels would jus end up killin the Guru businessmen, aye??

as bad as the storyline is loose, you post seems to have it all and whats more its done to perfection...me loves it.

yeah the movie is quite haphazard with characters thrown in for nothing and scenes that mean nothing...but there's a filter that you gotta use while watching it...try watching it from the aspect of "never say die spirit"...like when the protagonist says: "main na nahi sun sakta"...that's like the statement of the whole movie...to keep going one notch higher...always desite of all bureaucracy.
however the depiction needn't have been like this.

    take care...loved the critique

@ sis: There's two ways of looking at the movie, like I was saying the other day. One view leads you to an OK movie, the other to a royally horrible movie. Take your pick!!

    @ Mr.A: I'm taking that as a compliment. And I'd rather be a published writer ;)

Like I said, I wouldn't really mind such people, as long as the only reason they're doing such things is to kick corruption in its arse and to help the lower and middle classes. At least that should be the foremost aim.

'Would't go as far as suggesting a monarchy - but maybe fewer number of parties. Hell, it really isn't even about the number - it's about a conscience, it's about scruples and it's about a sense of unity.

@ triya: Lol. Your belcome. Your the first person I've seen whose happy to see a bad movie review.

Au contraire I think they'd make a good team. Fighting against crime, tararap tara.

@ Nav: True, that. The concept just didn't deserve being picturized like this.

I'm glad you like it. *can't stop grinning*

Thanks for dropping by you guys!!

    All my love,
    SG.

    @ sg -

And,you think a consensus is possible among parties, when folk in the SAME party don't agree witheach other? what we need is something like a monarchy, only we need to find someone who is good enough to be a monarch. In today's utterly selfishly selfless world,is that even a possibility?

I've dreamt up a lot of stories for the future of the planet :)...Hopefully,one of them ( the one that will matter..the one that ends up being real ) has a happy continuance ( and no ending ;) )

It is the bestest solution. But then so is organic food, haldi in milk, mornings starting at 4 AM, you get the point.

I was going for the realistic version of this day dream.

    'forever sthupitly.
