Tears.

Damn. I just sat there watching the people on TV take me through Kenya and Madagascar. I just sat there. With tears streaming down my face. I just sat there.

Commercial sex workers, orphans, no bloddy roads, no aid, no nothing. And I just sat there. People not wanting to do away with stigmas, having no other option, no food, no jobs, no nothing. And I just sat there.

It's probably a sad excuse that I'm not old enough to do something, but seriously, what about all those people who ARE? People have enough money to buy 45 million dollars of property, buy aeroplanes, and have nothing in them to do something for people like these? How can you not want to do something? I don't understand. I really don't. How, when people who actually work these commercial sex works, know what having unprotected sex can do to people, do it?

1$ for sex with a condom.
2$ for sex without a condom.

Yes, you read it right. Can you believe it? No? Well then, read it again, and keep reading it till it sinks in, 'cuz it bloddy true. And you know where they work? On the street, under a flap of plastic.

Why do people do this then, you might ask? 'Cuz there ain't no other way to earn money to keep their families alive. And I just sat and kept looking.

Why do people who work them do this? 'Cuz they're sent by the Devil, dammit. I dunno. I can't think of anything. I can't think of a single bloddy reason, as to why people would want to go around sleeping with people on the road, firstly. The reason the people on the road exist, is because people, humans, well bred humans, go around looking for it. And there is no secondly.

There are more than 1 million orphaned children in Africa, alone, today. And these orphanages, they offer the kids porridge, three times a day. Porridge. I don't even want to think about how many there are in India today. But whatever it is, nothing beats that continent. Nothing.

50,000 people died of poverty on Monday. A 2-3 year old with two sticks, called legs, took 5 minutes to gain balance, so that he could stand. He had a pot belly ( one of the signs of Kwahiorkor,, malnutrition, protein deficiency and marasmus). You could count the ridges in one's spine on his back. I could count 7. There was mud and dirt stuck everywhere. There were flies taking 'red eyes' from his leg to his face. There was no strength in his hands to ward off flies. What was the point anyway? They would only come back. Workaholic flies.

50,000 people died of poverty on Tuesday. It's a beautiful day. It's a beautiful place. The place where you can see nature in all its glory. It's the land of deserts, tropical evergreen forests and sand-covered beaches. It's home to the largest wildlife and breeding ground for the world's largest flora. A thousand ships found its coasts and brought with them merchants and colonisers. A thousand ships left its shores, years later, with everything that the land had to offer. Now these very shores serve as a source of entertainment to the living village kids and a source of income to an odd fisherman. Welcome to Asia!

50,000 people died of poverty on Wednesday. A baby lay within the protection provided by its mother against the harsh climate. He wore no clothes. There were flies all over him. I don't think what could be see on him was skin. He was hungry. Not even the liquid-protein stuff that passed as food was left. So, he bawled. Everyone in the vicinity was below 25 years. If the infants were lucky they'd live to see their 16th birthday. And then they'd die of either AIDS, an epidemic, malnutrition, or poverty. Did I say lucky?? The place where you see nature in its most cruel form. A gold mine, now suffering from poverty. Welcome to the WORLD!

50,000 people died of poverty on Thursday and Friday.

You could go on thinking
That there was nothing wrong
Whatever happened to those values of humanity
When a child is now born into this world
With no sense of skin on his bones.

50,000 people died of poverty on Saturday.

And it will happen again. Over and over and over again. And again. And again and again. In Africa, in India, in the whole damn world.

'Cuz guess what? Nobody but a few hundred people around the world really do care enough, to do something about it. Everybody is so busy getting "fucked up" with their own lives, I mean what would we do without leaders throwing furniture at each other in the Parliament, what would we do without leaders who want nothing but easy cash and to hell with the rest of the world, people who are so bothered with what's the "coolest" thing of the day that anything but "I,me, myself" is foreign?

And 'cuz of people like me, who'll just see all this stuff, and do nothing about it. Well, here's what... If I don't do everything that is within my capability at every stage in my life, about all this, sue me. And that's a promise. To myself. And to these people.

Light up. Light up.
Even if you can't hear my voice,
I'll be right beside you dear,
I swear in the days left,
We'll walk in fields of gold together.

...and then some more!!

Hellos to everybody. This is a pretty random post, unlike, ofocurse, the others on this page..ahem.. Actually, I spent yesterday in Hyderabad with my dad... so that unexpected day off from my daily mundane life gave me time to think alot and observe alot of stuff... here's what i found!!

> People always message you, try to call you.. when you are on national roaming and each incoming call is charged at Rs.4.99/min !! So, I very conviniently switched off my phone. I did, for around a full 20 seconds, hesistate and wonder what would happen if there was an emergency or something... but then I muttered something like "what the hell" and did the deed. It's kinda funny.. it felt good to have me all to myself for a change.

> I know..i know.. i AM a hypocrite. First, I buy a cell phone so that people can contact me even when i'm not at home. And then, I feel superb about having kept my phone switched off for a day!! ;)

>I came across a hoarding advertising about The Economic Times. Frankly, I love the newspaper. And hence, wasn't disappointed by the advertisement. Finally, an ad which didn't have a half naked babe with a beer bottle or something. Anyway it showed an eagle, in a going-to-snatch-a-fish-out-of-water pose. Only, the fish was depicted by a shark fin. The "jingle" read.. If you think, you can

>The guy at the entrance and I are now very good friends. I was pretty amused when I first saw him. Those men with turbans and huge moustaches you see on TV or read about...And here I was looking at an actual replica. Best part was when he gave me this huge smile to wish me a very good afternoon. Poor guy, little did he know, that he'd found himself as a fan, ME!!! MY poor dada... bathroom slippers to a 5 star and friends with the bell man and door man. He's kinda proud of me though... Have you ever seen the way these foreigners greet the bell man and the door and man and every other man, a very good day in return while around 90% Indians, just stick their noses high up in the air and walk past. I always wish them back, with my absolutely gorgeous smiles :D and thanks them too. It's what I've been taught. And I'm 100% glad and proud of my parents for having taught me. For you see... The fact that they are there to serve you... doesn't make them your servants

>I travelled by Indian Airlines on my way TO hyderabad and took the Jet back home. Neither failed to disappoint me. IA left at after a very reasonable (for it's standards) delay of 25 minutes while Jet was dot on time. The flight crew, bless their souls, were unashamedly made fun of by me.

I was travelling back alone so was getting bored... while taxing the runway, I could see these army people getting ready for a parade or something.. so I did a very me-like thing and waved. The guy next to me, was so amused, tapped me on my shoulder and with a very kind smile asked me, "Who are you waving to?"

>While eating, and looking at the clouds floating beneath me, I was thinking up of excuses to give to my teacher for not having completed some work that needed to be submitted. After alot or thinking, I decided to stick to the "Sir, my dads bag and my bag got interchanged. So, all my charts and files are with him." And to any queries as to what bag and what dad, I decided to let him know that I had been to Hyderabad for a day to meet my doctor. My dad had to go to Delhi from there and I came home, and st to college. The check -in crew made a mistake. (The second part was the complete truth)

> Little did I know that I wouldn't have to lie at all!! I hate lying! I absoultely hate it... but then I didn't have an option. And guess what? I didn't need an option to not have. Because our bags did actually get interchanged!! We checked in at the same time, and I guess they made a mistake. Hahaha!! Poor dad...!!

>Anyway, I am back home. And very glad about it. I have exams starting next week. And with no further need to worry about my health, I can start studying without worrying!! (an ahem to the "start studying part" please :) )

>I guess that's about it from me for now... by the by, if any of you guys want a particular christmas carol to be played, I'll be obliged. And do be kind enough to tell me how the templates look?? I don't know if any of you know but, I've started another blog for only pictures. You can check it out here!!

>'guess i've bored you guys enough... have a lovely day!! much love,

You could go on thinking
That there was nothing wrong
Whatever happened to those values of humanity
When a child is now born into this world

50,000 people died of poverty on Saturday.

And it will never happen again.

Because there was a concert going on across 4 continents, a 50-100 cities, with more than 30 bands/ individuals performing, at least a million people as live audience and a billion watching world over. It's the second largest concert to be seen after the Woodstock in 1969. With an audience that could easily be mistaken as the entire city, artists put their hearts into the mission and performed. Something was being done about it. People really do care.

8 world leaders, gathered in Scotland for the G8 summit, will be presented with a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair. If these 8 men agree, then we will become the generation that made poverty history.

But they'll only do it if enough people tell them to. ' We don't want your charity, we want YOU.' Sign the Live8 list now... Log on to http://www.live8live.com

This week poverty can be beaten. The concert is/was going on live at Tokyo,Rome, Canada, Berlin, Russia, Italy, Germany, Philadelphia, London, Paris, Cornwall, Las Vegas, Toronto... And you've got Madonna, Bon Jovi, Mcfly, Will Smith, Muse, Destiny's Child, Celiene Dion, Elton John, REM, Robbie Williams, U2, Pet Shop Boys, Scissor sisters,Faith Hill, Pink Floyd, The Who, George Michael, Gilmore, Bryan Adams, Velvet Revolver and Slash, Sir Paul Mcartney,Ms.Dynamite,David Hallyday,Shakira, Alicia Keys,Craig David,Liking Park, Green Day, Sting... And still counting!!! It beats going around the world in 80 days. I've been moving across continents every 15 minutes!

Hopefully, the Africans will now be provided with basic education, shelter, food and medical facilities. Hopefully, no more people will die of AIDS because they weren't aware. Hopefully, their babies will now have skin. Hopefully, they'll have the strength to fight the flies. Hopefully, they'll have clean water to drink and clothes to wear. Their prayers have been answered. People did care. Somebody up there, was watching them.

Light up. Light up.
Even if you can't hear my voice,
I'll be right beside you dear,
I swear in the days left,
We'll walk in fields of gold together.

On Sunday, no more people died of poverty anywhere on the globe.
